Wolf alice

Wolf Alice played their hit single The Sofa at the BRITs last week, after accepting the award for Group of the Year. The North London band returned to familiar territory to shoot the video for the track last year, bringing a playful and ambitious concept right into the heart of Haringey.

The video centres around a sofa gliding through everyday London life, with lead singer Ellie Rowsell as a passenger. To make this work, the production team actually built a full-size living room set outdoors and rigged the sofa onto a track.

The shoot took place across a couple of the borough’s residential and commercial streets, with Myddleton Road playing a particularly starring role. It’s a great example of how local streets can become a dynamic backdrop for storytelling; turning familiar surroundings into something cinematic and authentic.

And filming everything in-camera (rather than relying on green screen) meant working closely with the local environment and community to bring the idea to life. Over the course of a single shoot day, the production involved dozens of extras, and a number of local businesses found themselves firmly in the spotlight.

Thanks to Location Manager Rupert Bowkett for bringing this brilliant project to Haringey.
