Get Millie Black

Created by Booker Prize-winning author Marlon James, Get Millie Black is a five-part series following former Scotland Yard detective Millie-Jean Black as she returns to her native Jamaica to investigate a missing persons case. The series premiered on HBO in the US before arriving on Channel 4 last month.

While much of the production was filmed on location in Kingston, Jamaica, London also plays an important role in the story. We facilitated filming in Southwark for a number of scenes that helped to establish Millie’s connection to her former life in the UK and the wider investigation that unfolds across both countries.

Southwark continues to be one of the busiest filming boroughs in London, offering everything from historic streets and riverside locations to modern developments and distinctive urban backdrops. In this case, Silverlock Estate was the location for a stunt with a person falling from a stairwell, whilst Rotherhithe Street provided the perfect moody backdrop for a night shoot.

Productions such as Get Millie Black demonstrate the international reach of projects filming in London all the time. With filming spanning multiple countries and locations, effective coordination on the ground is essential to keeping productions running smoothly.

Congrats to Location Manager Emma Woodcock and team on a job well done!
